Manchester United Women will take on Liverpool in the WSL at Leigh Sports Village on Sunday for their last game of the year. Marc Skinner’s team aims to secure a second consecutive victory after their 3-1 win against Leicester in the Continental Tyres League Cup on Thursday. Goals from Lucia Garcia, Lisa Naalsund, and a Katie Zelem penalty maintained the Reds’ perfect record in the Conti Cup this season.
HOW TO WATCH AND FOLLOW
United’s clash with Matt Beard’s side is scheduled for a 12:15 GMT kick-off and will be shown live on BBC Two for UK viewers.

Team News
Skinner is not facing any new injury worries and is expected to have the same group of players available for the upcoming Liverpool match, similar to the previous two games against Tottenham and Leicester. Irene Guerrero and Hinata Miyazawa are both anticipated to be absent for the Liverpool game, while Emma Watson, Gabby George, Jessica Simpson, Aoife Mannion, and Evie Rabjohn continue to be sidelined with long-term injuries.
On the other hand, midfielder Miri Taylor will be back for the visitors after serving a suspension and missing the 2-1 Conti Cup win against Everton. Forward Natasha Flint may make a comeback after sitting out the last two games due to an ankle injury, but defender Jasmine Matthews (hamstring) and forward Mia Enderby (concussion) are expected to remain unavailable.
The Opposition
This weekend, there’s more than just bragging rights at stake as only three points separate the two teams in the league table. United is currently in fourth place with 18 points, while Liverpool is in fifth place with 15 points.
Liverpool has adapted well to the Premier League after being promoted last year and finishing seventh in the previous season. They are aiming to prove themselves against higher-ranked teams this season. Keep an eye on United’s striker Sophie Haug, who has scored four goals and provided two assists in nine appearances across all competitions this season.
Recent meetings
Both sides recently crossed paths in the Conti Cup last month at Prenton Park, as Nikita Parris struck in the first half to claim a 1-0 victory for Skinner’s side.
In this fixture last season, United put on a fine display to beat Liverpool 6-0 at Leigh Sports Village, with goals from Garcia, Alessia Russo, Hayley Ladd, Emma Koivisto (own-goal), Martha Thomas and Rachel Williams.
Garcia was on the scoresheet once more in a 1-0 triumph away from home, as we completed the league double over our rivals on the last day of the 22/23 campaign.
